Assassins Creed IV Black Flag PC Review

Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag PC Review.

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]’ve had Assassins Creed IV Black Flag for PC a few days now and am about 5 or 6 hours into the game so far, completing about 13% of the campaign.  I was impressed with the game right from the start, but that quickly faded away due to some graphics problems I seemed to have resolved. Currently I am running the game on a mixture of High/Very High settings. My rig is as follows. i7-920 2.6ghz (stock clock) 6GB Ram Gigabyte Windforce HD 7970 3GB Samsung 27″ 1920×1080 The problems I was experiencing seemed to be related to the different anti-aliasing options and once I chose the (EQAA) option everything seemed to smooth right out, the artifacts stopped garbling up my screen and I could…

Assassins Creed IV Black Flag PC First Impression

Assassins Creed IV Black Flag PC Review.

[dropcap]I[/dropcap] picked up Assassins Creed IV Black Flag for PC yesterday at the local EB Games and installed it last night.  Installing the game via the 3 DVD’s provided took a little while but I eventually got a little time after getting kids to bed to check it out.  After getting into the settings and playing with the graphics I just can’t seem to get the game to look right.  Others with AMD cards (and Nvidia) have been complaining and both Ubisoft and Steam forums about the poor optimization. I’m running the game at a solid 40-60 FPS with everything maxed out but I’m getting weird texture artifacts and the anti-aliasing doesn’t look right with jagged edges etc… appearing on certain items.  Then about 10…

Check Out Survive The Forest

Survive The Forest Game

[youtube id=”KwImGYR2rwg” width=”633″ height=”356″] [dropcap]H[/dropcap]ave you heard of the new Survival game “Survive The Forest” being developed by Vancouver-based SKS Games?  I’ve been following it for several months now and information is pretty sparse which is to be expected from a smaller studio. The trailers they’ve released thus far reveal a beautifully generated world, a deep crafting system and some pretty dark enemies.  Stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash you must fight to survive, gather supplies, build a shelter and defend yourself against the lurkers in the night. The game is being developed for PC and Oculus Rift (which is going to be mind blowing!) and I can’t wait for it to be released on Steam.  They are teasing a late 2013 release…

How Bad Do You Want A Playstation 4?

PS4 News

[youtube id=”f3xcIoCges8″ width=”633″ height=”356″] [dropcap]A[/dropcap]pparently not as bad as 19-year-old Marcus Jenkins and 20-year-old Maurice Boyd who were arrested in Bakersfield, California on Friday.  They were arrested after allegedly robbing a customer leaving a store with his new PS4 purchase shortly after midnight on Friday (morning). There were actually a few other Playstation 4 robberies over the weekend and you read about the alleged PS4 thieves here. Sony reports that the PS4 moved more than a million units on the first day and they expect to move millions more when they further roll out the new platform to Europe and Latin America on November 29th. Did you pre-order a PS4?  Have you played on a PS4 yet?  I’ve been a hardcore gamer for 2 decades now…

Project Zomboid Map

Project Zomboid Map

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]‘ve been playing Project Zomboid for a few days now and struggle with the fact that there is no in-game map.  Apparently I am not a great decision maker when it comes to surviving the Zombie apocalypse in Project Zomboid.  Running around aimlessly I’ve been able to successfully loot within a few hundred yards of my spawn point, but with no direction just end up dying. That all changed when I discovered this Project Zomboid Map courtesy of Benjamin ‘blindcoder’ Schieder.  Using this map I was able to make my way to a farmhouse that I’ve started to convert to my safehouse.  The world map is huge, by the way and if you want to download the entire thing or the files Ben created a forum…

Check Out This Arma 3 Tactical Guide

Arma 3 Tactical Guide

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e can probably agree that Arma 3 has a lot for a new player to the series to digest, it’s actually overwhelming.  Andrew Gluck or “Dslyecxi” as he’s known in the Arma community has put out a fantastic and detailed guide for the Arma 3 series titled “Tactics, Techniques, & Procedures for Arma 3“. It goes in-depth into the game itself and offers you many useful nuggets of information on becoming a better soldier in Arma 3.  Beginner players (myself included) will find the information quite helpful. Here’s a quote from Dslyecxi himself You’ll note that unlike my prior guides, TTP3 is an official product of Bohemia Interactive, available as part of the Arma 3 Deluxe Edition as well as in print and e-book formats.…

State Of Decay Sandbox Mode DLC Coming Nov 29th

State of Decay Sandbox DLC

[youtube id=”G_gsuwNDtS8″ width=”633″ height=”356″] [dropcap]S[/dropcap]tate of Decay by Undead Labs was a smash hit on the Xbox and recently was just ported to PC and released on Steam for early access. The game has excellent reviews so I picked it up about a week ago on Steam for $19.99 but haven’t been able to pull myself away from DayZ and Project Zomboid yet to enjoy it. Reading through the forums there were many players complaining that once you beat the game (even before you beat it) that loot was dwindling and the game became stagnant and boring.  The new DLC with sandbox mode will hopefully address this concern and give players many more hours of Zombie survival fun. Here are a few links from their website…

Looking Forward To Assassins Creed IV Black Flag on PC?

Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag

[youtube id=”dPqPrTGI-D4″ width=”633″ height=”356″] [dropcap]I[/dropcap] jumped on the first Assassins Creed game when it was released, played it, beat the game and then moved on to other gaming titles for a while.  When Assassins Creed 3 came out the series caught my eye again and I bought and played through that game as well.  Despite lots of negative reviews I really enjoyed the game and with my HD 7970 it was drop dead gorgeous in the graphics department. With all that said I’ve been playing pirate games for a long time.  It started with the Monkey Island series when I was a kid and then grew into Seadogs (an awesome game!) and then Sid Meirs Pirates and Tropico and Port Royal and Pirates of The…

7 Traits Of a Successful DayZ Survivor

7 Traits Of a Successful DayZ Survivor.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]here is a lot to know if you want to be one of the last ones standing in the DayZ Mod Zombie Apocalypse.  Here are 7 traits that many successful survivors have in common. 1.  Learn The Loot Maps  |  DayzDB Map Here Chernarus is huge, in fact it’s overwhelmingly huge, almost ridiculous in size and bigger than any game world I’d experienced before.  Knowing and understanding where all the best loot locations are is going to save your ass when you need something.  Knowing where hospitals are located for medical supplies,  grocery stores for general supplies, firehalls, police stations and barracks for weapons and industrial areas for tools and vehicle parts.  In the DayZ Mod not every building spawns loot and some towns are…
